Nkhape
Launching in Gauteng

A security officer, when a trip feels wrong.

Tap once and the nearest verified, on-duty private security officer comes to escort you in their own vehicle. You watch them arrive, live on the map.

In danger right now? Call SAPS on 10111 or 112 from a cellphone. Nkhape is a private escort service, not an emergency service.

How it works

Help in three taps, not three phone calls.

For any motorist: commuters, parents on the school run, late-shift workers and e-hailing drivers.

1

Tap the escort button

Say why in one tap: a dark area, a passenger who seems off, or just being cautious. Your location goes with the request.

2

The nearest officer accepts

Verified officers who are on duty near you get the request. The first to accept is on the way, and you see their name and vehicle.

3

Watch them arrive

Track the officer live and call them from the app. Once they reach you, they escort you until you’re safe.

Who comes to help

Every officer is checked by a person, four times over.

Nobody can switch on duty until our team has verified all four, and every approval comes with a re-check date six months later.

PSIRA registration

Registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority, checked against PSIRA’s records.

Firearm competency

A valid firearm competency certificate and licence to carry.

Background check

A criminal background check, done with the officer’s written consent.

Vehicle

The vehicle they’ll arrive in, so you know exactly who to look for.

Pricing

Prepaid kilometres. No monthly fee.

R20per escorted kilometre

Buy kilometres in advance and use them whenever you need an escort. Unused kilometres stay on your account.

What you pay for

  • Only the escort itself. Measured by GPS from the moment the officer reaches you. Their drive to you is free.
  • Minimum 2 km per escort, then rounded up to the next 100 m.
  • Cancel for free any time before the officer arrives.
  • Never refused for a low balance. If you’re out of kilometres in a genuine emergency, help is still sent and you top up afterwards.
  • Secure card payments through Paystack. Nkhape never sees or stores your card number.
For security officers

Questions

Good to know

Is Nkhape an emergency service?

No. Nkhape sends a private security officer to escort you when something feels wrong. If you or someone else is in danger right now, call SAPS on 10111 (or 112 from a cellphone) first. The app has a button to call SAPS too.

Where does Nkhape work?

We’re launching in Gauteng. Join the early-access list and tell us your area: it helps us decide where officers are needed first.

What does the officer actually do?

They drive to you in their own vehicle and escort you until you’re out of the situation, for example out of a dark area or to a safe, busy place. You can see their name and vehicle before they arrive and call them from the app.

Do I have to be an e-hailing driver?

No. Nkhape is for any motorist. E-hailing drivers can say so when they sign up, but it’s optional.

Who can see my location?

Only the officer who accepts your request, and only during that escort. Officers see your first name, number and vehicle registration while the escort is active, and not afterwards. Read the privacy policy for the details.

What if no officer is nearby?

The app tells you if no one accepts, and you’re not charged. Always call SAPS if you’re in immediate danger.

When can I download the app?

Soon, on Android first and then iPhone. Join the list below and we’ll let you know the day it’s ready.

Early access

Be first when Nkhape reaches your area.

Leave a cellphone number or email address. We’ll only use it to tell you about the launch, and you can ask us to remove it at any time.
